Let’s get one thing straight before we dive in:
You do not need supplements to lose weight, build muscle, or get healthy.
No protein powder, greens powder, pre-workout, or fancy pill will ever outwork poor habits.
If you’re not prioritizing protein, eating enough fiber, strength training, walking daily, sleeping 7–9 hours, and drinking enough water, that’s where your energy should go first.
The basics will always give you the biggest return on investment.
That being said, supplements can absolutely help fill nutritional gaps, improve convenience, and support your goals once you already have a solid foundation in place.
I don’t take dozens of supplements every day. I keep things simple and focus on the ones that are backed by research and fit into my lifestyle consistently.
Here are the supplements I personally take and why.
If I could only recommend one supplement to almost everyone, it would be creatine.
Creatine is one of the most researched supplements on the planet and has been shown to improve strength, power output, training performance, recovery, and even cognitive function.
I take it every single day, whether I train or not.
Consistency matters far more than timing, so find a form you enjoy and will actually remember to take.
No, protein powder isn’t magic.
It’s simply protein in a more convenient form.
I prioritize whole food sources first, but as a busy mom, business owner, and athlete, protein powder helps me consistently hit my daily protein goals when life gets hectic.
If you’re struggling to eat enough protein, adding a shake or protein bar can be an easy solution.
Many people spend the majority of their time indoors and are deficient in vitamin D without even realizing it.
Vitamin D plays an important role in immune health, mood, bone health, and overall wellness.
I do the D3/K2 combo because the two work together to help direct calcium where it belongs, in your bones!
Most people aren’t eating fatty fish multiple times per week, which means omega-3 intake tends to be low.
Omega-3s support heart health, brain function, recovery, and help regulate inflammation within the body.
This is one supplement I try to stay consistent with year-round.
Magnesium is involved in hundreds of processes throughout the body and can support sleep quality, muscle recovery, stress management, and overall relaxation.
As someone balancing motherhood, training, work, and everything in between, this one has become a staple in my evening routine & helps me get a good nights rest.
I sweat a lot, train hard, and spend plenty of time outdoors.
Electrolytes help support hydration, energy levels, and performance, especially during long workouts, hot summer days, pregnancy, postpartum, or breastfeeding.
Water matters, but proper hydration involves minerals too.
I think the supplement industry has convinced people that they need far more than they actually do.
The truth?
You probably don’t need a cabinet full of products.
You need:
Master those things first.
Then, if supplements make your life easier or help fill in the gaps, great.
The best supplement routine is the one that supports an already healthy lifestyle, not one that tries to replace it.
